Within six months upgraded to a larger room - A210, the Merseyside & Cheshire GTP Consortium has been operational for 6 years, running the Graduate Teacher Programme. The Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) is an employed, work-based training programme offering trainees a way to qualify as a teacher whilst working. Having Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), is now a legal requirement for all teachers working in any maintained school in England. The GTP is a one-year full-time postgraduate programme leading to QTS. The Consortium also runs the Overseas Trained Teacher programme (OTT) for teachers who hold teaching qualifications gained abroad and require QTS to teach in England. The Merseyside & Cheshire GTP Consortium is a partnership between Liverpool Hope and Liverpool John Moores Universities, the Local Authorities of Cheshire, Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens Warrington and Wirral, the Liverpool City of Learning and many schools from the Merseyside and Cheshire area.
