ITS Technology Group (ITS) has today announced that it has reached number one on the Government’s Greater Manchester Broadband Delivery UK league table.
Businesses in Greater Manchester are eligible to apply for a connection voucher worth up to £3000 which enables them to access fast reliable broadband. The scheme, which is designed to get more than 95% of the UK connected to superfast broadband by 2017, is running across 50 cities and BDUK has more than 760 suppliers. ITS became accredited as a preferred supplier in 2014, and is currently at number six in the national league table.
Roy Shelton, ITS’ Group CEO said: “This voucher scheme is important for so many reasons. Not only is it enabling those businesses that have struggled with inadequate access to the internet to access superfast broadband, but it is also allowing them to take advantage of applications that will make their businesses better, more productive and save them money in the long term.
“Added to this is the fact that during the course of connecting these digitally overlooked businesses, we have built more networks which benefits the wider community as they are also able to get access. It also means that we have grown as a business in order to meet the demand. It has created more local jobs as we have increased our headcount by launching an apprenticeship and graduate programme, as well as creating further technical and engineering roles. The scheme has effectively contributed to the local economy and this benefit will be felt for generations.”
ITS is also a leading provider in Coventry, Derby, Knowsley, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Sheffield and York, and is about to launch in the North East. The scheme operating in Greater Manchester covers Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan and part of Cheshire East.
