An excellent opportunity to play a key role in the continuing development of Vinyls Technologies PVC additives and technology business.

You will be a degree qualified chemist with some experience in managing the delivery of laboratory experimental programmes. Your prime responsibility will be to progress the safe timely delivery of laboratory and pilot plant experimental programmes to meet business needs. You will provide technical and analytical support for the development of new additives and processes for PVC suspension technology. You will gain experience to develop, operate and analyse experiments, and experimental programmes, to assess improvements for PVC technology.

You will have strong interpersonal skills to form excellent working relationships with other team members. You will possess the high concern for standards necessary to manage laboratory and pilot plant operations involving hazardous materials. You will also have the practical skills and enthusiasm to work ‘hands on’ with the team in a variety of working situations. Experience of analytical and organic chemistry will be preferred ‘high calibre recent graduates will be considered. In addition you will use strong analytical thinking capabilities to analyse the experimental results and produce conclusions which impact critically on development programmes.

This role may also require some work off site at a variety of locations worldwide.

Spheritech is a Research and Development based company working in a range of markets including the healthcare industry, personal care & homecare through to agrochemicals.  We specialise in polymer chemistry, peptide synthesis and preparative HPLC.  The company are currently working on a wound dressing which will enter into a clinical trial early 2017.  We are also developing polymers for regenerative medicine having just been awarded an Innovate UK grant to develop a scaffold for hip repair.

The company is mainly funded through contract work and is seeking a chemist to work on customer funded projects and occasionally R&D. Ideally we are looking for a chemist with experience in organic chemistry or polymer chemistry.  The position is open to anyone from HND to PhD level. Remuneration package will be dependent upon experience and qualifications.
